At time of writing this blog, Abbey Theatre had launched its DEAR IRELAND project: a collection of four visual postcards containing monologues written by 50 writers and performed by 50 actors asking questions of what our new normal would look like:
What do we want to be to one another?
What do we want our society to look like?
What are we not paying enough attention to?
Where do we want to go next?

People are vulnerable now. With all the well intentioned commissions and schemes that have and are coming during our season of cocooning, will also come rejections, not because of lack of talent, but only to the lack of resources.
We hope that this blog might in some small way think alongside how we now can and should be extra careful in the way we deal with rejections.

The Irish describe their time of shut down and strict restrictions of self-isolation and social distancing with a gentler and warmer term “cocooning”. This act of cocooning is done as an act of love in order to protect ourselves and help others by staying separate in the meantime.
